Student Loan Xpress Becomes One of the Nation's Largest Lenders

Student MarketMeasure, Inc., a student loan information service, has announced that Student Loan Xpress has become the 8th largest federal student lender in the U.S.

The ranking comes from statistics compiled by the U.S. Department of Education for fiscal year 2006.

Student Loan Xpress, a CIT company, was ranked the 12th largest student lender in America in 2005.

The CEO of Student Loan Xpress, Mike Shaut, has been quoted as saying, "Our strong commitment to providing low-cost loan programs and consultative service to our schools and borrowers continues to help Student Loan Xpress expand nationally."

In addition to providing private loans, Student Loan Xpress offers federal PLUS, Stafford, Consolidation, and Stafford loans.

Other statistics proved equally impressive for Student Loan Xpress. For instance, the lender ranks 5 th in the nation among federal PLUS lenders. It’s in 6 th place when it comes to GradPLUS lenders. (GradPlus is a federal PLUS loan specially designed for graduate school attendees.) Student Loan Xpress also ranked 8th in the nation among federal Consolidation lenders—up from 13th place in 2005. The impressive growth indicates that Student Loan Xpress is following a sound course for development over the long term.

The lender also boasts a special loan program for students enrolled in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest. The ACM Xpress loan offers low variable interest rates, low fees, a master promissory note for multiple years, and varied repayment options.

ACM is composed of more than a dozen institutions of higher learning, including well-known colleges such as Cornell, Grinnell, Macalester, Monmouth, and Carleton. The consortium was initially established in 1958 and is based in Chicago.
